Fans, players and clubs pay tribute to Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II
The League, clubs, players and fans are paying tribute to Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II at this weekend’s Premier League matches, honouring her extraordinary life and contribution to the nation and world. Ahead of each match wreaths are being laid on the pitch before a minute’s silence is observed, followed by applause and the National Anthem, God Save The King.
Queen Elizabeth II, the UK’s longest-serving monarch, has died on 8 September at Balmoral aged 96, after reigning for 70 years.
Postponed Liverpool Matchday 8
The central match of the matchday eighth of the Premier League Chelsea against Liverpool at the stadium Stamford Bridge has been postponed. In connection with the mourning events due to the death of Elizabeth II, the Premier League considered that the game could not be played for organizational reasons. Matches Manchester United against Leeds United and Brighton against Crystal Palace have also been postponed.
