The final 40 contenders for 2022 Golden Boy
The Reds nominees at 19-year-old Harvey Elliott and 20-year-old Fabio Carvalho among final 40 contenders following the publication of the latest shortlist.
The final 40 nominees for the 2022 Golden Boy award have been announced by organisers Tuttosport, from Arsenal rookie Marquinhos to Barcelona superstar Ansu Fati. The list of 100 players for the 2022 Golden Boy award has been cut down to 40 youngsters now. The candidates are being reduced by 20 each month until the winner is announced at a ceremony in Turin later this year.
The Golden Boy is an annual award given to the best under-21 player in Europe. Past winners include Lionel Messi, Wayne Rooney, Paul Pogba, Kylian Mbappe, Erling Holland and Pedri.
