Where need to finish for Champions League, Europa League or Conference League
The English Premier League allows the top four teams to qualify for the UEFA Champions League, while the fifth-place team qualifies for the UEFA Europa League.
The winners of the FA Cup also qualify for the UEFA Europa League. And the winners of the EFL Cup qualify for the UEFA Conference League.
At this time, it is not possible to predict which clubs will qualify for the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League next season, as the final league standings have not been determined. However, the top teams in the league as of now are Manchester City, Arsenal, Newcastle United and Manchester United, with Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur also in contention for European qualification.
It is important to note that these qualifications are subject to change based on the outcome of the remaining matches and the results of other domestic and international competitions.
Champions League
Everything is simple here: a place in the top 4 gives the right to qualify into the UEFA Champions League.
Europa League
Finish in fifth place would clinch in the Europa League. However, English clubs are given two tickets to this tournament. Also the winners of the FA Cup qualify for the UEFA Europa League.
There is situation that could play out, of course, if the FA Cup winners are already in the top five, the spot for the UEFA Europa League would go to the club that finished in sixth place. Currently, Manchester City and Manchester United, who will meet in the final of the FA Cup, occupy the 1st and 4th place, respectively.
Conference League
A sole place in the UEFA Conference League playoffs typically goes to the winners of the Carabao Cup (League Cup).
However, with Manchester United having already lifted the trophy and on course for either the UEFA Champions League or UEFA Europa League, that spot will instead be based on Premier League finish.
The seventh-placed club qualifies for the Conference League.
Clash for the top 4: Finishing Line
Liverpool’s edged closer to a Champions League spot, but they are still relying on Manchester United or Newcastle United to drop points in the run-in.
However, poor away form this season has let Jurgen Klopp’s side down massively and they are now relying on others, as well as themselves, for them to finish in the top four.
One way or another, Liverpool are currently fifth of the standings and they are aiming to catch Newcastle United and Manchester United, who sit third and fourth respectively.
Manchester United are one points ahead of the Reds, while Newcastle are a further two points clear. But the Magpies and the Devils each have one game in hand.
How many points can Liverpool get?
The Reds are enjoying best runs of form this season at present – they are unbeaten in eight and have won their last six matches.
If Liverpool were to win all of their three remaining matches, their points total would amount to 71.
